Teach English in Beijing – Updated 2023

As the capital city, Beijing is evergreen in its popularity amongst foreigners. While the city is vast and sprawling, the transport system makes it easy, cheap and less intimidating to navigate. Living in Beijing means living at the heart of the country, often being a stones throw from an area of cultural significance or a more modern amenity suited to the needs of the 21st century individual.

Of course, you will also be close to some of the most popular tourist attractions that China has to offer. Living in Beijing means that The Great Wall is just a bus trip away, while you also have Tiananmen Square, the Summer Palace and Lama Temple are all on your doorstep. Living in Beijing is an incredible experience for anyone who wants to broaden their horizons and gain a more in depth appreciation about the history of China. We are especially keen to talk to teachers who can begin their career in Beijing by September 2023.

Job Description

Kindergarten and Public school positions are open for application all year. Start dates are flexible. Ideally you would be in place to start teaching English in Beijing at the beginning of the school semester in either September or February. However, we know that this is not always possible and we will always try our best to accommodate you with deferred start-dates.

Applicants must meet the criteria for the Z-Visa, which is a requirement of the Chinese government. The salary on offer is up to ¥22,000 per month (including housing allowance), while you will also avail of almost three months holiday each year!

Teaching in the public school system is often more relaxed than in international schools or training centers. You will only be expected to teach a maximum of 18 forty minute lessons each week, and often you will not be required to adhere to any office hours. You will also receive ongoing teacher training, Mandarin lessons and the employer organizes regular social events for their teachers and a salary of up to 20,000 CNY each month. Check out how this compares to how much teachers get paid in other Western countries.

A member of staff will also meet you at the airport and introduce you to the city.  They will also help you with opening a bank account, getting a Chinese SIM card and any other administrative tasks that there may be.
