Teach English in Hangzhou – Updated May 2023

Join our team and teach English in Hangzhou, a city rich in history and culture. Hangzhou has been home to the literary and artistic elite since the 9th century and maintains this artistic vibe today with museums, temples, and performance spaces scattered throughout the city. It is also home to some of China’s biggest film studios, providing opportunities for foreigners to appear in blockbuster movies.

In addition to its cultural offerings, Hangzhou is a great place to live with the beautiful West Lake as its central feature. Hefang Street is another must-see spot, where you can shop and walk in the same place as citizens did almost 1000 years ago during the Southern Song Dynasty. We are currently seeking passionate English teachers to join our team in Hangzhou by September 2023.

We offer positions in Kindergartens and Public schools with flexible start dates all year round. Ideally, you would begin teaching at the start of the school semester in either September or February. However, we understand that this may not always be possible. We will work to accommodate you with deferred start-dates.

Applicants must meet the criteria for the Z-Visa, a requirement of the Chinese government. The salary on offer is up to ¥2,000 per month (including housing allowance), and you will enjoy almost three months of holidays each year. Check out how this compares to how much teachers get paid in other Western countries.

Teaching in the public school system in Hangzhou is often more relaxed than in international schools or training centers. You will only be expected to teach a maximum of 18 forty-minute lessons per week. Also, youou may not be required to adhere to any office hours. We offer ongoing teacher training, Mandarin lessons, and regular social events for our teachers.

We provide airport pickup and a thorough introduction to the city, helping you with administrative tasks such as opening a bank account and getting a Chinese SIM card.
